R49, I haven't followed this too too closely but my impression is that Garner is gritted-teeth, white-knuckled determined to avoid alienation from him because of the kids. Not allowing them to attend the wedding could have pissed him off royally and also, naturally, been very disappointing to them. From a PR perspective, she would have been called a bitter cow ex, as well, so I'm sure that was in there somewhere. Personally, I think the kids traipsing around Paris with them was a bit much but....
